Would you like to discover the historical and transcendental secrets of a two-thousand-year-old city? We suggest you discover the city of Tortosa through the Route of the Three Cultures. A guided route that will take you to know the city through the still visible imprint of the three cultures that coexisted with relative peaceful coexistence in the city and that marked its development for centuries: the Saracen, the Jewish and the Christian.

The itinerary begins at the point where one of the city’s two old synagogues was located, the separation point between the old and new Jewish quarters. You will continue the visit by entering the most relevant points of the old Jewish neighborhood, where you will learn about vestiges that still exist from the passage of the Jewish community through the city, curiosities about their traditions and way of living and the history and relevant facts of notable figures. You will learn about the Saracen and Christian culture of the time from what has always been a strategic point in the city: the set of the remaining fortifications of the city and the Zuda Castle, from where you will also learn about the beginnings of the city and its development through the passage of the Iberians, the Romans and the Visigoths. You cannot get to know the city of Tortosa culturally without visiting the most relevant buildings from the Renaissance era, the historical moment of maximum splendor in the city, such as the Royal Colleges complex. You will discover emblematic places corresponding to the medieval period and you will end up learning the history of the unfinished Cathedral of Santa María de Tortosa and the event of the appearance of the Virgin of the Ribbon, patron saint of the city, skirting the building along the Plaza del Absis until you reach to see the renovated façade of the cathedral and its square, with magnificent views over the Ebro River, where you will end the visit learning about the relevance that the river has had in the history and development of the city.
