Discover the Ebro Delta: Nature, Gastronomy and Tradition
Enjoy an unforgettable experience in the Ebro Delta, a natural paradise on the Mediterranean coast. Begin your adventure with a visit to the Ecomuseum, where you’ll learn about the history, biodiversity, and traditions of this spectacular wetland. Then, become a chef with a traditional paella workshop, learning the secrets of this iconic dish.
Continue with a boat ride to the mouth of the Ebro River, enjoying unique landscapes and impressive wildlife. End the day birdwatching flamingos in their natural habitat, a spectacle that will delight nature and photography lovers.
Small-scale representation of the main ecosystems of the Ebro Delta. Open-air museum with huts, aquariums, and a permanent exhibition. The Ecomuseum divides its informational content into two parts. The first presents human-made elements, such as the irrigation network of the delta plain, with the dam, the canals, and drains leading to the orchards, fruit trees, and rice fields. The second represents the natural delta systems, such as the lagoon, an ullal (small isolated pond), the river with its island, and a representation of the riparian forest. The center demonstrates the impact that human activity has had on the evolution of this protected natural area. Finally, visitors can enjoy live observation of the main fish and amphibian species of the area in the center's aquarium.
Depending on the size of the group, the group will be divided into two parts. Half of the group will participate in the (mixed) paella workshop in small groups led by the chef. The other half will make cold tapas/canapés (fuet, Serrano ham, guacamole, and salmon cheese). Afterward, groups will switch sides, and at the end, everyone will enjoy the tapas and paella, accompanied by a drink and dessert.
After almost 1,000 km of length, the river flows into the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by Buda Island, where the cold waters of the peninsula's interior mix with the warm waters of the Mediterranean.
Protected areas of the Ebro Delta Natural Park that are home to the largest number of flamingos in Catalonia, all year round!
