Tiffany stained glass is a traditional craft that uses sheets of glass of different transparencies, colours and textures as raw material. This is a material deeply rooted in the Ebro Lands, since in the Toscar area, at the beginning of the 17th century. The first flat crystalline glass factory in all of Spain was active for 7 years. Today, the craft of stained glass has been reduced to a small family workshop, creating contemporary pieces and, above all, restoring works. Núria Romeu Caudet, an accredited stained glass artisan with an official license, keeps this craft alive by producing her own pieces and teaching stained glass art in her courses. In this workshop, you will learn the Tiffany stained glass technique step by step: you will choose one of the available designs, cut each of the glass pieces, polish them so that they fit together well, tape them with copper and finally solder your design to make a suncatcher. This activity is a small exercise as an introduction to the world of Tiffany stained glass so that you, your partner or family can learn and enjoy this craft as you create your own piece. With this activity, you are helping to prolong the life of traditional craft activities in the Ebro Lands, highlighting them and showing your love for our territory. In addition, in the same workshop you can take a look at the artisan’s pieces or even order what you want to order. For children: Children under 12 years old cannot do the activity in the same way because glass must be cut and welded at high temperatures. In the case of families, children can participate in parts of the project together with their parents. In the parts that they will not be able to participate in (cutting glass and soldering), they will decorate a sheet of glass with paints (which they can take home), as if they were drawing a stained glass window.
Workshop to be held upon prior request and subject to the availability of the artisan Prices:
