The palm craftsmanship is deeply rooted in the Ebro Lands. Since ancient times, the llatadoras (women craftsmen) collected the palm heart from our Mediterranean mountains to make the “pleita”, the braid of palm strands with which they made all kinds of items such as rugs, baskets, baskets, etc., for the home or the countryside. Today, there are few llatadoras in our region who make handicrafts made with plant fibers from the Ebro Lands, works in danger of disappearing due to the introduction of other cheaper materials such as plastic. In this activity, in addition to highlighting a handicraft work done by Montse Pérez Bayerri, an accredited craftswoman with an official license, the aim is to highlight this art with local and sustainable materials, which avoid capitalist, industrialized and unsustainable production models for our environment. This workshop combines an introduction to palm craftsmanship and plant fiber materials. You, your partner or your family can enjoy making a bracelet, a bookmark, your own initial or, even more, you can start your own artistic design with the help of a professional artisan, ideal for children. With direct contact with this fiber, this workshop allows you to experience the culture of the region up close, touching it and creating your own work. With this activity, you are helping to prolong the life of traditional craft activities in the Ebro Lands, highlighting them and showing your love for our territory. In addition, the artisan has a small shop in the same workshop where you can take a look at her works or even order the one you want on request.
